The pointless and space-stealing keyboard was my hesitation point on the Kindle (well, that and the need to load the thing with books -- first person to figure out a way to efficiently digitize your current dead-tree library is going to make MILLIONS), and now there is the Kindle Touch, which is beautiful and lovely and exactly what I wanted at a price that is right in my range.
EXCEPT. They also came out with the Kindle Fire, and I just- I just -- HELLO BEAUTIFUL WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE?! -- But on the other hand, not e-ink, battery life in hours rather than weeks... but on the other other hand, media and apps (does that mean I can put B&N or Google's app on it and not be tied exclusively to one purveyor of e-book goodness?? Probably not out of the box, right, but how long would it seriously take the powers of the internet to come up with a way to sneak them on - probably without even needing to root it, you could side-load, yeah?)
