Sorry, had to get that out of my system. Please pardon future lapses into Violent!CAPSLOCK!Me. There will probably be several.
Our big, huge, major, final paper is due on Friday. I am final edit person. I have been excused by the group from writing new material because I quote, "saved our butts" on the intermediate stage of same. (See: The Epic of Lady Songsmith and the Evil Paper-Monster of Doom for full details.) This is good, because our professor tore the paper to tiny shreds. Which I have to admit was warranted, because everything that made me go 'ooh, that's kinda lame-ish...' he marked as needing attention. Nice to have validation that I'm not just an insane perfectionist, but not helpful for the grade.
So I have been slowly ripping apart and rebuilding the paper, this time being FAR less considerate about not rewriting my groupmates (bad) sentences. If it sucks, it's getting changed. Sorry, guys. It was actually going rather well, if slower than I liked. And I got quiet agreement from Responsible Groupmate about absorbing Mr. Cannot Cite's very weak section into other sections so that it would cease to stand out like a sore thumb of badness.
So.... Our big, huge, major, final paper is due on Friday. I have two of the four new parts in hand at this moment.
One of them is by and large unusable. As in, it's 4.5 pages long single-spaced and I think I can salvage 1 page. Probably. I think.
I've written to this person and told them as clearly as I can without being mean that I'd damn well better have something that actually follows the correct format in hand tomorrow. (And it only needs to be about 3-4 pages double spaced.)
The other one is the right format, but sparse. Closer to 2 pages double-spaced. And far too enamored of econ terminology in places where it makes little sense. I have to write to this person and ask them to add a couple things in, which should bring it out to the right length.
But first I needed to vent a bit. Because it was that or throw things, and at 3:30 am the neighbors would complain, or cry, and that just sucks.
